Town Hall Meeting on Water Rates

Foster City is looking at moving to conservation based water rate models which will have tiered pricing for water. There will be an open house to discuss this model and answer questions on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Council Chambers, 620 Foster City Boulevard.

This is being done in response to the SF PUC's announced supply assurances regarding the water we get from the Hetch Hetchy system through the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA). The system is in the process of undergoing seismic upgrades to better insure an uninterrupted supply of water. The cost of that is expected to around $4 billion. In addition, the water rate model will incentivise water conservation by providing for increased pricing for greater water usage.

I will be writing more about the water supply and how it effects Foster City in the coming weeks, but if you are a owner of a single family residence I recommend that you attend the March 9 open house or watch it on FCTV.

Thanks,

Charlie
